The documentary "The Great Return: Karabakh" on the return process to Karabakh, the revival of life in this region and the restoration and construction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation was shown within the 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum.
The movie author, and journalist of "TRT World", Oubai Shahbandar said that the movie’s primary objective was not only to stress the historical and political aspects of the conflict but also to share the fair struggles and individual stories of people, to demonstrate that they continue to live with hope and optimism even in the most difficult conditions.
Co-author Adnan Huseyn noted in this documentary they tried to illustrate the strength and fighting spirit of Azerbaijani citizens. He also pointed out that Azerbaijan, which ended the 30-year occupation with the 44-day Patriotic War, today launched a comprehensive "Great Return" Program to the Karabakh region. IDPs who were once displaced from their lands are returning to their homes, villages, and cities are being restored in a modern style, a real renewal process is underway in Karabakh.
It should be noted that the screenplay depicts the revival process of the cities that were razed to the ground as a result of the occupation of Karabakh, which is one of the oldest historical regions of Azerbaijan, and the destruction of cultural heritage as a consequence of 30 years-long occupation. The movie carefully shares the impressions of returning residents and the opinions of officials and eco-activists about the ongoing environmental restoration process. The movie ends with a powerful message that people who returned to Karabakh look to the future with great hope and continue their lives in their native land with pride and positive aspirations.
