The 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum hosted a discussion in the format of "Fireside chat" on the "Impact of disinformation on the tourism sector" attended by the foreign travelers and tourism writers.
Speaking at the meeting, Mark Elliott - the author of "Azerbaijan The Mark Elliott Guide", travel and tourism writer at "The Caspian Post", expressed his pleasure of joining this discussion organized within the Forum, and spoke of the impacts and potential negative effects the disinformation has on the tourism along with many other sectors of economy. He noted that fake information about security issues might lead to decline in tourist flows to certain regions. In addition, disinformation on the climate change and environmental issues affects people's travel plans and interest in ecotourism.
In the course of an interactive discussion the participants elaborated on the prevention of attracting users to disinformation on various platforms, the influence of strategic disinformation on society, the development of effective methods of combating it, as well as the positive and negative consequences of artificial intelligence in the field of digital media, the stage of development of this type of technology. Moreover, the speakers shared views on the improvement of the environmental quality of sustainable media, provided detailed experiences and opinions on the dominating role of information in the restoration and promotion of environmental balance.
