A panel session on "Impact Assessment: Understanding the Reach of Disinformation " was organized within the 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum.

In the panel discussion moderated by Ghida Fakhry, the host and executive producer of TRT World, Jaffar Hasnain, the host and reporter of TRT World, Mikhail Gusman, the first deputy director general of Russia's TASS News Agency, Montaser Marai, the Media Initiatives Manager of Al Jazeera Media Institute, Valeria Giannotta, the academic and scientific director of CeSPI's (Center for International Policy Studies) Observation Center for Turkey, and Charles Veley, the founder of the MTP club discussed the analysis of the concept of disinformation, the investigation of the dynamics, sources and types of disinformation at the new media level, and the definition of the spread of fake news on modern information platforms.

The panelists highlighted that as a result of the significant ease of access to information in the modern era the fake news has been widely spread all over the world knowingly or unknowingly, as well as the negative impact of such information on various social processes has increased in recent years. It was noted that, although it is methodologically difficult, analyzing the distribution models and scope of disinformation nowadays can be considered necessary for the implementation of an effective approach in the fight against fake news.
