On July 23, Turkiye's Anadolu Agency representatives held a training on "Military Journalism" within the Shusha Global Media Forum on "New Media in the 4th Industrial Revolution".
The training started with the demonstration of a video on the importance of protecting journalists on duty. Jahangir Ishbilir, head of Anadolu Agency Academy highlighted the importance of protecting own safety for military journalists, along with direct professional duties.
The Academy head shared knowledge on the first aid during the incident, fast car driving, a number of flexible physical actions, use of gas masks, as well actions to be taken during explosions:
"Knowing the language, maps, and culture of the areas you operate in is a must. You may need first aid in case of injuries. However, being psychologically strong also plays an important role."
"Awareness of cyber technologies and remote-controlled weapons can help prevent wrong steps during any incident. For this reason, journalists should receive complete information about the places they are going to, and shall be informed about the weapons used," said the Academy head.
Participants learned new skills about personal safety, first aid, wartime conduct, water survival, chemical and biological weapons protection, emergency response, and more.
Trainings also covered topics as overcoming the difficulties and threats that media representatives face in crisis, natural disaster and war zones may face.
