A panel discussion on "The role of media diplomacy and media literacy in restoring trust" was held at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum
3rd panel of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum was built around the topic "The role of media diplomacy and media literacy in restoring trust".
In a panel discussion moderated by Ms. Dilek Tuna, host of the international television channel “AnewZ”, Dr. Zaid AlNawaiseh, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, said that transparent, responsible and ethical media activities make a significant contribution to strengthening trust in international relations, reducing tensions and creating an environment of constructive cooperation. He emphasized that media diplomacy serves to develop mutual understanding by creating a communication bridge between states and peoples, and media literacy is one of the main mechanisms for ensuring that society critically evaluates information, increases its resilience against disinformation and forms a healthy public opinion in the global information space.
Ms. Zhang Ling, Deputy Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia said that strengthening trust in the modern information environment and forming a sustainable communication ecosystem necessitate the development of media diplomacy and media literacy as complementary directions. According to Ms. Ling, expanding institutional cooperation, improving the regulatory and legal framework in line with international standards, and implementing a systematic awareness policy create effective synergy between these two directions.
The panel discussion also explored the views on the promotion of information exchange, the role of media literacy in the fight against disinformation, and the importance of international cooperation in restoring trust in the global information environment.
