A parallel event was held within the framework of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum on the topic “Digital Platforms and Information Safety: Current Challenges and Key Solutions”.

The event, moderated by Havva Huseynli, a representative of the National Cybersecurity Agency, featured speakers such as Farid Zeynalov, Chairman of the Board of the National Cybersecurity Agency, Dr. Karen Sutherland, social media trainer and researcher, Diana Ryan, TikTok's Director of Public Policy and Government Relations for Eastern Europe, and Seamus Clancy, LinkedIn's Head of Public Sector, Healthcare and Nonprofit Sales. The discussions included a range of topics including the development of a safe information environment on digital platforms, current cybersecurity challenges, mechanisms for combating disinformation, the responsibility of social media platforms, the experience of applying age restrictions in national legislation for social media users, the protection of users' personal data, ensuring security on digital platforms, as well as measures to be taken to increase users' digital and media literacy.

The speakers noted that the rapid development of information technologies and the penetration of digital platforms into all areas of life, along with new opportunities, also increase risks such as cyber threats, data manipulation and the spread of disinformation. In this regard, strengthening cooperation between government agencies, technology companies, media representatives and civil society institutions is of particular importance.

Event participants shared their ideas and experiences on building a secure and sustainable information ecosystem, promoting responsible behavior on digital platforms, and forming effective response mechanisms against modern threats.
